Today was a really Happy day for me. My half husband and I decided to go to Philadelphia to watch a really important soccer game that was happening in Portugal between the two biggest teams - Benfica and Porto (Pedro supports Benfica).
I wasn't as excited as he was about it because I like soccer but not like him.. We decided to go to Philly because there is an official Casa do Benfica (Benfica's House) and they were transmitting the game there, also, as I wrote a few days ago, a very important guy from soccer passed away last weekend and there would be a tribute during the game.
When we arrived there, it was a small establishment but full of nice people, they really made me feel at home... They were proud of us because we drove from DC to Philly only to watch the game and they treated us like "kings", the environment was great and the food made me feel that I was at home (Portugal). The lunch, Feijoada a Transmontana, was really similar to what I used to eat at my grandmother's every Sunday, the deserts smelled like Christmas, the one on the right top (Chocolate Mousse) was delicious, the one on the bottom left reminded me of my Mom, she used to bake those Suspiros a lot when I was in Portugal... Everything made me feel really well, really nostalgic... There were moments that I realized that I was smiling without a reason..
People were great, they offered us a scarf with the symbol of the team and the Bell from Philadelphia to thank us for going from DC (left bottom), they insisted a lot for us to go back again, one of the nicest persons there gave us the contacts and offered us his house so that we go more times.
I was really not expecting to like it that much...
I was even happy about listening to people saying "bad words" during the game...
Even that I feel great in US I'm proud of being Portuguese, I'm proud of our people... They really made me Happy and I have to thank them for that! I really miss my country and I can't stop imagine going there this year!
And, you...
What made you Happy today?
Kika
